The Mizos are highly cultured and sociable people. They are guided by a principle or a code of ethics called "tlawmngaihna" which means to be helpful to others at all times. Some of them declared themselves as the "lost tribe" and accepted by Israel. Many have moved to Israel.
Aizawl is the capital and a beautiful hill city attuned to modern and westernized lifestyle. It is an expanse of blue-green hills stretching away to hazy skyline mystically, aloof and withdrawn. The brilliant stars and the bright Moon can take your breath away.
Mizoram is flanked by Bangladesh on the west and Mynmar on the east. 95% of the State's total population are Christians although a little over a 100 years ago, they were "head hunters" and war waging tribes. Most educated Mizos speak English fluently.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are looking for volunteers from USA or Canada to travel to this easternmost part of India. The volunteer will conduct self-help meetings in English and other outreach in the community. Time commitment could be a month or longer. This is a great opportunity to make a difference and have an adventure. Red Lotus will provide room and board while in Aizawl.
